Income protection insurance and managing of personal data

Personal data that may be collected by the insurance company include name, personal identification number, income and address regarding the insured. Information regarding union membership will also be processed. The data is mainly obtained directly from the insured when the insured fills out the insurance application form, or through direct contact, by phone or otherwise, with the insured.
The personal data is used to manage the insurance agreement, to administer and to handle insurance claims, including but not limited to, calculating insurance premiums and the right to reimbursement. Such processing of data is done to fulfil our obligations under the insurance agreement towards the insured.
The personal data, including information regarding the insured’s union membership, will be used to evaluate, exert and defend legal claims in accordance with the insurance company’s obligations due to applicable insurance group agreements and applicable agreements between the insured and Unionen. Such processing of data mainly entails that the insurance company will process certain data to enable the provision of the insurance to the insured and to fulfil the obligations of the insurance company towards Unionen. The processing of data regarding the insured’s union membership for other purposes than which has been specified above will be carried out only when the insured has consented to such processing specifically.
The processing of data may be used for review of our treatment of your matter, for instance through the use of customer surveys or for the insurance company’s internal statistical purposes. Such processing is done on the basis of the insurance company’s legitimate interest to use customers’ opinions and customer statistics to ensure and improve the quality of the services of the insurance company.
The personal data of the insured will be saved for the time period necessary to fulfil the purpose of the processing of personal data and will thereafter be erased. Normally, the data will be saved for a period correspondent to the from time to time applicable period of limitation, which currently is 10 years from the beginning of the unemployment. The data may be saved for a longer time period if it is necessary for the insurance company’s processing of the insurance matter, for instance if the period of limitation is interrupted.
Further information regarding the insured’s unemployment benefit is gathered from the applicable unemployment insurance.
The insurance company is owned by Unionen; who is also the group representative for the insured covered by the insurance. The insurance company shares information with Unionen for the purpose of fulfilling obligations due to the group agreement and the insurance, e.g. such information concerns the insured’s right to receive compensation from the insurance company.
The insurance company strives to always process the insured’s personal data within the EU/ European Economic Area (the EEA). In some instances the insured’s personal data may be transferred to and processed in a country outside the EU/EEA by our service providers. To ensure that the insured’s personal data always is protected the insurance company ensures that there are safeguards in place, e.g. through the use of the standard contractual clauses adopted by the EU which obligates the receiver to protect the personal data in the same way the insurance company does. If applicable, the insurance company will provide information regarding the safeguards used and which countries personal data is transferred to.
The insurance company may disclose information to authorities in accordance with law if such request is made. In connection with a legal dispute the insurance company may disclose information to other parties, e.g. the courts.
In connection with a legal dispute or other legal matters, the insurance company may also disclose information to its legal representative.
The insurance company may, where necessary collect or control personal data from job security organisations (such as TRR or TRS) and/or Försäkringskassan regarding activity support.
In order to further the development and education of employees of the insurance company, information may also be shared to external service providers for the purpose of quality assessment of our treatment of your matter.
Personal data may also be disclosed to external service providers for the provision of customer surveys.
