Transition organisations

Your transition organisation can help you get back into the labour market if you have been given your notice or have an expiring fixed-term contract. You can also get support if you are employed and want to future-proof your skills. You get more extensive support if you are covered by a collective agreement.

Which transition organisation applies to you?

Depending on which collective agreement you are covered by, there are four different transition organisations that you can get support from. If there is no collective agreement at your workplace, you should instead contact the public transition organisation.

If you do not know which transition organisation you can get support from, talk to your manager, human resources department or trade union representative. You can also find your transition organisation by using the Trygghetsfonden TSL search engine. You need to know your employer's organisation number to use it.

TRR

Most of Unionen’s members are covered by the main agreement between Svenskt Näringsliv (the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise) and PTK (the council for negotiation and cooperation), and should therefore contact the transition organisation TRR.

TRS

Some of Unionen’s members are covered by the main agreement between Arbetsgivaralliansen (civil society employer organisation), Svensk Scenkonst (Swedish Performing Arts Association) and PTK , and should therefore contact the transition organisation TRS.

Trygghetsrådet Fastigo (TRF)

If you are a white-collar employee in the real estate sector, in a company belonging to the employers’ organisation Fastigo, please contact TRF. Note that the transition support provided by TRF is less extensive.

Omstella

If you are a white-collar employee in a non-profit or cooperative organisation belonging to the employers’ organisation Fremia, contact the transition organisation Omstella.

Public transition organisation

If there is no collective agreement at your workplace, you should contact the public transition organisation, which is coordinated by Kammarkollegiet (Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency).

Are you applying for student finance for transition and retraining? Contact your transition organisation first!

If you intend to apply for student finance for transition and retraining, always start by contacting your transition organisation for guidance and a formal opinion before submitting your application to CSN. There are several reasons for this:

  • If you do not include a formal opinion when you apply for student finance for transition and retraining, CSN will ask the transition organisation for the opinion afterwards, which will extend the processing time of the case.
  • CSN is also required by law to attach particular importance to such a formal opinion when making its decision. This means that the formal opinion carries a lot of weight in the decision-making.
  • Through your transition organisation, you will receive guidance and assistance in finding different programmes that could strengthen your future position in the labour market. If you first apply to CSN for student finance for transition and retraining for a programme, before you have received a formal opinion from your transition organisation, the organisation, when subsequently contacted by CSN, can only give a formal opinion on the specific programme for which you have already applied.

Available grants and support

Transition support

If you are given your notice due to a work shortage, illness or the expiry of a fixed-term contract, you may be entitled to support from a transition organisation, such as advice to help you choose a programme of study, look for a job or start a business. If you are covered by a collective agreement you may also be entitled to additional study grant.

Skills support

If you already have a job but are considering studying to improve your security in the future labour market, you can get skills support from your transition organisation in the form of study and career guidance. If you are covered by a collective agreement you may also be entitled to additional study grant.
