Here´s a quick look at the perks of the membership:

  • Someone to ask
Do you need advice and support in your work situation? How long is my period of notice? How many hours am I actually allowed to work? Is my salary really reasonable compared to others? We at Unionen know what your rights are and are experts on Swedish business and industry. You will receive quick and professional support and we will help you to negotiate if problems arise at the workplace.

  • Security even when you are out of work
The membership of Unionen includes a income insurance scheme as a complement to the unemployment benefit you will receive from the regular unemployment fund (a-kassa). You can receive up to 70-80 per cent of your income if you become unemployed, up to a level of SEK 60 000 per month.
Don’t forget to join the Unemployment Benefit Fund (A-kassa). The Unemployment Benefit Fund is not the same as a trade union. These are two different organisations.

Collective agreements – fundamental protection and security

If there is a collective agreement in your workplace, it covers all employees, but as a member you can have a say on the terms and conditions and increase our bargaining power in negotiations with employers. The collective agreement provides fundamental protection and security in terms of, for example, your right to an annual salary increase, your working hours and terms of employment, extra remuneration for parental leave or in case of long-term illness, the best occupational pension scheme on the market ( ITP ), access to information, a right to exert influence, etc. Around 8 out of 10 Unionen members are covered by a collective agreement at work and Unionen has close to 100 different collective agreements. The collective agreement is Unionen’s key tool for ensuring security and influence in the workplace.

How much is the membership fee?

As a member of Unionen the membership fee depends on your income. The standard membership fee if you are working is SEK 235/month. If your income is less than SEK 25,000/month, the membership fee is lower.
