During their membership, many of Unionen’s members choose to become further involved in trade union activities by taking on a position of trust, such as shop-steward or work environment representative, or a position in one of our local unions at a workplace. If this should be the case for you, in addition to the processing described above there may be further processing directly related to your role as an elected representative.
Different processing tasks that are carried out are necessary for us to make an agreement with you as an elected representative through supporting, inspiring and informing you in your role.
With the purpose of evaluating, monitoring and developing activities, Unionen performs processing on the basis of a balance of interests.

Unionen sometimes takes pictures, films or in other ways documents the events that Unionen organizes. This could be the case at everything from lectures and seminars to representative council and congress.
Processing is carried out to market Unionen´s events and to spread Unionen´s messages. The processing is carried out with the support of balance of interests, in which Unionen’s legitimate interest is such marketing and spreading. Our ambition is of course always to avoid publishing anyone who doesn't want to be in a for instance a photograph. As shown under the paragraph about your rights on this page you always have the possibility to whenever object to such processing.
In such cases where the documentation reveals union membership or other sensitive personal data, the documentation will not be published outside Unionen before we have obtained explicit consent from you.
The following applies to the processing of personal data that Unionen carries out with your consent.
Giving your consent to the processing of personal data is always voluntary. Consent may be given either when you join Unionen or at a later date, depending on the type of processing.
The easiest way to give consent is online at Mitt Unionen, under www.unionen.se. Consent may also be given on different forms; for example, if you go on a course with external Unionen partners.
You can withdraw your consent for specific processing at any time. Such a withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of our processing your personal data before your consent was withdrawn.
If you do not consent to certain processing or you withdraw consent which you have previously given, we will not process your personal data for the purpose in question.
For those purposes and with the support of the legal basis referred to above, your personal data may be disclosed to external parties such as insurance companies, banks and other partners, people with specific functions in society such as politicians, employers, employer organisations, witnesses and potential witnesses, the courts and arbitration boards and organizations that conduct customer surveys and other forms of analysis. In addition, your personal data may be shared with Unionen Medlemsförsäkring.

We may also transfer your personal data to suppliers and other partners who carry out processing of your personal data on our behalf. If Unionen engages personal data processors outside the EU and EEA we will take appropriate protective measures to ensure that your rights and freedoms are safeguarded, such as through standardised data protection agreements.
Your personal data will be stored during the time that Unionen is obliged to save the data in accordance with applicable laws and/or collective agreements. For example, we must store some information to fulfil the requirements in the Swedish Accounting Act (1999:1078). If a collective agreement has been reached on Unionen’s obligation to keep records of negotiations and cases, the data is stored for the time necessary to fulfil the obligation in the collective agreement.
For processing where there is no legal or collectively agreed obligation or regulation to define a certain period of time for the storage of your personal data, the principle used to determine the storage period is that your personal data will not be stored for longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the data are processed. This means that your personal data are stored for as long as you are a member of Unionen and a certain time period afterwards, for purposes that are specified in this text. In some cases we will also remove parts of your personal data during your period of membership, when processing is no longer necessary for the original purposes.
If you have given explicit consent for the continued storage after your membership ceases, data may be stored for the specified purposes during the period you consented to. You may withdraw such consent at any time and the data will be deleted (if there are no other grounds for storage as described above).
Unionen takes appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised sharing, unauthorised access and other unlawful or unauthorised methods of processing personal data.
We apply special procedures and systems to protect against unauthorized access to your personal data. Access to your personal data only takes place by personnel who are specifically listed and subcontractors to Unionen who are governed by special agreements. In order to further regulate access to your personal data, we have created different authorisation levels for case types and tasks. The system is also protected against unauthorised access by firewalls, among other methods.
Personal data saved in the form of documents that are manually processed are kept in locked rooms with limited access. All of the personnel at Unionen and employees of subcontractors who are granted access to your personal data are obliged to keep your data confidential.
